Guided by experienced guides you will be starting off, following in the footsteps of the Roman Legionnaires. Hadrians Wall runs from the remote fort of Bowness on Solway, (The Solway coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).) to Wallsend on Tyne. This trip is designed to be a more concise snapshot of Hadrians wall.
Constructed in AD122, and completed in 16 years, runs for 45 miles. Its purpose was to keep the Barbarians out, and to control the movement of people across the border.
There is plenty of time to peruse whilst on your rambles. Roman forts (Chesters, Housesteads, Birdoswald); Museums (Segedunum-Wallsend, Housesteads and Vindolanda); Milecastles, which are fortified gateways, and the romans put two watchtower turrets in-between.
For the entire trip, you will end your day of rambling and exploring with carefully sourced accommodation, followed with an evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch for you next days trek, which are all provided. As you leave to explore, so does your luggage onto the next accommodation awaiting for your arrival.
