The Brickworks Museum

The Brickworks Museum, Swanwick, Hampshire, England

The Brickworks Museum at Swanwick, Southampton tells the story of the history of brick making in this country.

The Victorian factory that houses the exhibits forms the heart of the museum, and the heart of the collection. Here you can see the original brick making machinery, steam engine and related smaller equipment, such as barrows, shovels and wagons, once used at Bursledon Brickworks. There is also an amazing collection of bricks and even chimney pots! The steam engine and machinery was restored about 20 years ago and is operated on special events, one Sunday a month, please see our Events page for details (Link to website is above) of when the next steam-up day is.

The Brickworks Museum also holds regular events throughout the year that are open to everyone; for details visit our website (link above).
