Things to do - Surrey

The county of Surrey is one of Englands smallest and most beautiful counties despite being one of its most highly populated. The county is in south east England immediately below London. It is still surprisingly rural with the rolling chalk slopes of the North Downs, picturesque country villages and large areas of woodland. Surreys North Downs include the popular walking (and skiing) area of Box Hill and to the east is a range of sandy hills with Leith Hill, a secluded and thickly wooded beauty spot with an 18th century tower from which it is said that (on a clear day and with the aid of a telescope) you can see some of Wiltshire - over 250 miles away! For the gardening enthusiast there is Wisley Gardens to visit. The original garden was the creation of George Fergusson Wilson, now visited by thousands of visitors each year.
