The Museum

The Museum, Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland

Housed in the former St John's Church, The Museum, Newton Stewart contains a wealth of historical treasures, photographs and artefacts, with exciting and interesting displays of the natural and social history of Galloway.

The Museum was created in 1979 by a local lady, Miss Helen Drew, to preserve evidence from the past of Newton Stewart and its surroundings, for present and future generations.

Run entirely by volunteers, we provide an informative, memorable and entertaining experience for visitors and locals alike, whilst being good value for money.

Help with local family history and group visits can be arranged with Ms. G. Fryatt on 01671 401048.
