Castell Henllys is the only Iron Age Village in Britain reconstructed on the exact site where our Celtic ancestors lived 2,000 years ago. Here you truly can walk in the footsteps of the Demetae tribe. The Visitor Centre contains an interactive exhibition, a gift shop and a cafe serving home-made cakes and light lunches. There are picnic benches and a play area down by the river and a 'barefoot trail' - a chance to feel different surfaces and textures, from logs, to gravel, to squelching clay with your bare feet! (bring a towel!) You can enjoy a walk through the woods and up the hill to the fort, pass through the gateway and into the village. The houses are reconstructed on the foundations of houses built 2300 years ago. Take a chance to talk to the guides, smell the wood smoke, bake bread or have your face painted like the warriors.
