Rhossili Bay is one of the most spectacular coastal destinations on the Gower Peninsula, famous for its sweeping three-mile sandy beach, dramatic cliffs and outstanding natural beauty. Backed by dunes and overlooked by Rhossili Down, the bay offers unforgettable views and is a favourite destination for walkers, photographers, surfers and nature lovers.

At the southern end of the bay lies the tidal island of Worm’s Head, accessible only at low tide and made up of Inner and Outer Head. To the north is Burry Holms, another tidal island with fascinating historic and natural interest. Visitors should always check tide times carefully before attempting to walk to either island.

At low tide, the remains of several shipwrecks can sometimes be seen along the sands, including the wreck of the Helvetia, one of Rhossili Bay’s most recognisable historic features. Behind the beach, Rhossili Down rises to the Beacon, the highest point on the Gower Peninsula at 193 metres, with prehistoric remains adding further interest to the landscape.

Rhossili Bay has also appeared on screen, featuring in the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, Doctor Who and Torchwood: Miracle Day. In 2014, it was voted the UK’s number one beach by TripAdvisor users.
