County of Antrim, Northern Ireland is where the city of Belfast, the capital, lies. The name Antrim also lends itself to a market town in the region, on the north-east shore of Lough Neagh. Some of the most beautiful stretches of the Ulster Way are just a short distance from Larne town. Sailing is a popular sport in Larne, and berths are available from the East Antrim Boat Club in Larne Lough, Glenarm Harbour, Carnlough Harbour and Ballylumford Harbour.
The mudflats of Larne Lough are a haven for birdwatchers and Swan Island in the centre of the Lough is internationally recognized for its importance as a nesting site, particularly for the rare Roseate Tern. Disabled riders are welcome at The Rainbow Equestrian Centre in Islandmagee which is a recognized Riding for the Disabled facility. The Rainbow and Islandmagee Riding Centres also welcome able bodied riders of all standards. Pony Trekking can be arranged in advance.
