Dufftown is recognised as the Malt Whisky Capital of the world and with Distilleries like Glenfiddich, Mortlock and Balvenie to name a few, in close proximity, its very easy to understand the reason why. Twice a year usually during April/May and September, Dufftown hosts the famous Whisky festival which, not only is the ideal time to experience visiting various distilleries but also other distillers that are normally closed to the general public which are open for an opportunity to sample their unique creations. You can find the local Golf course which not only received acclaim from Sam Torrance for the 10th hole, but also features in "Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes" by Geoff Harvey and Vanessa Strowger.
