Swn yr Afon

Hawthorn Lane, Brecon Town, Powys, LD3 7ND

5 Star Gold
Swn yr Afon (sound of the river) phonetically: soon-err-ahvon is a lovely bed and breakfast in a quiet leafy part of Brecon town, close enough to stroll the five-minute walk to all the shops, restaurants & pubs.

The theatre is also close, as are the canal walking paths. We are far enough away to hear the quiet sound of the birds and the evening song & bells of the Cathedral that frames your view from your bedroom and our lovely garden.

Swn yr Afon is not one of your commercial hotels (we did that for fifteen years before opening our latest home to guests). It is somewhere that you can enjoy a home from home break but with all the comfort of a top hotel combined with the wealth of knowledge from us with over 50 years of hospitality experience.

Relax with an early evening drink or a cuppa in our lovely garden or in our lounge. Next day take breakfast in the conservatory with one of our award-winning breakfasts like Welsh Rarebit (Caws pobi), Eggs Brychan or a traditional cooked breakfast (All local suppliers fair trade wherever possible).

Although we are not the biggest place to stay, you will find us well up to date with the latest in guest comfort & technology, with super fast wifi throughout, smart TVs and in-house (free) movies. We have off-street private parking & you may come and go as you please with your own entry key.

Our home is the ideal place to discover the five hundred square miles of natural beauty in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We are happy to chat or plan your walking day in this lovely part of Wales (Experienced guide & walker always on hand).
