Built in 1868, Blenheim Lodge sits at the top of Brantfell Road - a small cul-de-sac really - offering commanding views of Lake Windermere and the fells.
This friendly Bed and Breakfast is situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park, and is a great place to stay for guests looking for that quiet relaxing break away from the madding crowd, yet close enough for easy walks to plentiful local eateries, pubs, shops, attractions such as The World of Beatrix Potter, The Old Laundry Theatre, Lake Windermere Cruises, Lake Windermere itself, and Bowness Pier.
They have three single rooms and eight double rooms at Blenheim Lodge, one of the latter of which can also be used for twin or triple occupancy.
All the rooms have shower en-suite facilities and one has a private bathroom with a clawfoot slipper bath and handheld shower over it.
Ten of the bedrooms have incredible outlooks to Lake Windermere and the fells, and one has pretty restful views of the woods and fields of Brant Fell. From the latter room, it is also possible to see The Dales Way footpath.
Blenheim Lodge is the first guest house off The Dales Way, making it a convenient hop, skip and jump for Dales Way walkers.
At Blenheim Lodge, they appreciate that a great night's sleep is what helps to make a weekend relaxing and rejuvenating. For that reason, all their beds are fitted with ultra-comfortable handmade deep pocket-sprung mattresses.
However, each room is different from its neighbour because Blenheim Lodge is a house and home, not a hotel. Thus, each room has its own character, and guests can choose their rooms by name.
Blenheim Lodge also has a comfortable and airy guest lounge that overlooks Lake Windermere and the fells. Guests are offered a cuppa and biscuits upon their arrival to relax in the lounge and feel at home. There is also a TV in the lounge as in all the bedrooms.
Blenheim Lodge has a car park only for the use of staying guests. If travelling by scooter or motorcycle to the guest house, they can offer some flatter areas for parking. They also welcome cyclists and walkers. Please also feel free to contact them prior to arrival if you are travelling by train or bus to the Lake District. They can help arrange transfers and also tours that will pick up and drop guests off at their door.
The UK Government has now dispensed with all Covid rules. However, please rest assured that we at Blenheim Lodge are continuing to keep in mind the safety of our guests as this is of utmost importance to us. To this end, we are, at present, continuing to keep rooms unoccupied for at least 24 hours on either side of a booking in order to ensure that our rooms have been not only been cleaned but are also aired thoroughly.
Blenheim Lodge is tranquilly located at the end of a hilltop cul-de-sac, and offers amazing views - some panoramic - of Lake Windermere and the fells from their room windows.
From the front and side of the Bed and Breakfast can be seen outstanding vistas of Lake and fells. At the back of the house, there is a room overlooking the fields and woods of Brant Fell, the fell upon which this guest house is situated.
This 4-Star Bed and Breakfast nestles peacefully into Brant Fell, offering beautiful walks and viewpoints with far-reaching outlooks, and has The Dales Way, practically on their doorstep. Indeed, it is literally a half-minute stroll from the front door to the farm gate opening onto The Dales Way and open fell side.
Whilst Blenheim Lodge is quietly situated upon a fell top in Bowness on Windermere, this Lake District National Park guest house is by means isolated. This is especially convenient for guests who come to visit by public transport.
Bowness village, Lake Windermere, and local amenities and attractions are 2-5 minutes walk from the front door. One of their guests put it this way: Only five minutes walk from town, but here, it feels a million miles far away! Quite literally, it is possible to hear a pin drop at Blenheim Lodge.
Blenheim Lodge is conveniently located 5 minutes' walk from the hustle and bustle of Bowness village centre, and also from the Windermere Car Ferry which crosses Lake Windermere with vehicles, bicycles, horses, including bicycles and foot passengers to the opposite shore, thereby cutting straight across the Lake to the attractions and activities on the side.
Windermere Train Station is five minutes south of Bowness on Windermere, and guests arriving by train may either take a taxi or bus to the house or walk the mile to their door.
Bowness Bay, Lake Windermere: 0.5 mile (walk 5 minutes)
Windermere and Windermere Station (for Stage Coach and Train): 1.6 miles (walk 15-20 minutes)
The Dales Way Footpath: nearest point is 84 yards, (walk 1 minute)
