Westward Ho! Beach - Discover North Devon's Beautiful Golden Coast

Westward Ho! Beach is a spectacular sandy beach situated on the beautiful North Devon coastline, overlooking Bideford Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Famous for its extensive golden sands, rolling waves and impressive pebble ridge, this popular seaside destination attracts families, surfers and coastal walkers throughout the year. Stretching for approximately two miles, the beach forms part of a remarkable coastal landscape, with views towards Lundy Island on clear days.

Visitors can enjoy surfing, bodyboarding, swimming and traditional seaside activities, with plenty of space for building sandcastles and relaxing at low tide. The beach is backed by Northam Burrows Country Park, an important area of coastal grassland, sand dunes and wildlife habitats. The nearby South West Coast Path offers scenic walks along the dramatic North Devon coastline, while the village of Westward Ho! provides amusement arcades, cafes, restaurants and traditional seaside attractions.

Westward Ho! Beach is free to visit throughout the year, with nearby parking, public toilets, shops and refreshments available. RNLI lifeguard patrols operate during designated seasonal periods, while dog restrictions apply to certain sections of the beach during the summer. Access is available from the seafront, although the pebble ridge and soft sand may present difficulties for visitors with limited mobility. Nearby attractions include Northam Burrows, Appledore, Bideford and the beautiful village of Clovelly.
