Paps of Jura

Paps of Jura, Craighouse, Isle of Jura, Scotland

Paps of Jura - Discover the distinctive mountain peaks that dominate the wild landscape of the Isle of Jura.

The Paps of Jura are three striking mountains that rise above the rugged landscape of the Isle of Jura in the Inner Hebrides. The three principal peaks are Beinn an Oir, Beinn Shiantaidh and Beinn a' Chaolais, with Beinn an Oir the highest at 785 metres. Their distinctive rounded profiles can be seen from across Jura and from neighbouring islands and the Scottish mainland, making them one of the island's most recognisable natural landmarks.

Experienced hillwalkers can explore the Paps on challenging routes through Jura's remote and often pathless terrain, rewarded with spectacular views across the island and surrounding Hebridean seascape. The mountains can also be admired from many locations around Jura without undertaking the climb. Weather conditions can change quickly and walkers should be properly equipped and prepared for difficult terrain and limited facilities in this remote landscape.
