Ben Hynish - Climb to the highest point on the Isle of Tiree and enjoy far-reaching views across the Inner Hebrides.
Ben Hynish is the highest point on the Isle of Tiree, rising to 141 metres above sea level in the south of the island. Although modest in height compared with many Scottish hills, its position within Tiree's famously low and open landscape makes it a prominent landmark and provides impressive panoramic views across the island and surrounding Atlantic Ocean.
A walk to the summit rewards visitors with extensive views over Tiree's beaches, crofting landscape and coastline. In clear conditions, it is possible to see neighbouring Hebridean islands and distant mountain ranges. The summit is also home to a distinctive radar station, making Ben Hynish easily recognisable from many parts of the island.
The surrounding landscape is exposed and weather conditions can change quickly, so visitors should wear suitable footwear and clothing. Ben Hynish is an excellent destination for walkers, photographers and anyone wishing to experience a different perspective of Tiree's beautiful island scenery.
