The Old Police Station, Portsoy - newly renovated holiday cottage for 4 in the heart of Portsoy.

Following a full renovation completed in 2023, this brand new, high quality holiday cottage at 47 Church Street, Portsoy offers a warm and cosy base on the Banffshire coast. Once Portsoy's old police station, the building has been insulated and renovated to a very high standard and is now barely recognisable as its former self.

From the front it looks tiny, but step inside from Church Street and you will be surprised by how light, bright and spacious the cottage feels. The house is split level as it backs on to Wally Green park and the footpath down the old railway line. Sleeping 4 in comfort, the living area sits at street level, with a king size double en suite and a twin bedroom located downstairs.

The enclosed outside space is a real highlight, with a patio area, a solar fountain and a rockery garden set on the roofs of the two sheds. Inside, you will find good WiFi, a well equipped kitchen for everything from a full roast to a quick takeaway, and thoughtful quality touches including Egyptian cotton sheets, Dorma duvet covers and thick fluffy towels.

Dogs are very welcome, and the cottage is an ideal base for coastal paths, harbour villages and quiet beaches tucked between dramatic rocky cliffs. In summer the long light makes evenings feel endless, while winter skies can be dark and starry with the chance, if you are lucky, of seeing the Northern Lights.

The Old Police Station places you in the heart of Portsoy, a characterful coastal town known for its historic harbour, local heritage and big sea views. Wally Green park sits just behind the cottage and the old railway line footpath is ideal for gentle strolls, morning dog walks and easy routes out towards the coast.

Portsoy is perfectly placed for discovering the wider Banffshire coastline, from hidden coves and near deserted beaches to dramatic cliffs and scenic coastal paths. Pretty fishing villages, coastal viewpoints and wildlife spotting spots are all close by, with the Moray Firth coastline offering sea air, wide skies and unforgettable light in every season.
