Talfryn

Tynygraig, Ystrad Meurig, Ceredigion, SY25 6AG

Offering views both far-reaching & simply breathtaking
Built in 1846 Talfryn (pronounced TalVryn) is a rural Grade II listed self-catering cottage located in Tynygraig - Ystrad Meurig.

Talfryn is completely secluded and totally private and due to its location the views from the property are far-reaching and stunning. On a clear day a glimpse of Aberystwyth sea adds a splash of blue to the picture that makes up part of the beautiful vista of fields, rolling hills and forest.

No neighbours. No traffic. Relax and simply re-energise.

We want your experience at Talfryn to be one of the most memorable and pleasurable. The furnishings and items that make up Talfryn have been hand chosen for their sheer quality, comfort and elegance.

Talfryn has two burners, one in the lounge and one in the kitchen.

Exposed beams throughout, a bespoke kitchen with a Butler's sink and a bathroom with a grey marble basin atop its hand-made chunky wood cabinet. Characteristic nooks and crannies are abound along with the odd low doorways which have been thoughtfully padded just in case you do forget to duck.

Talfryn sleeps four. It has two bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom with a double bed and the other bedroom has twin single beds all with the highest quality mattresses to ensure you get a dreamy night's sleep.

The staircase and both bedrooms are carpeted throughout with a 100% pure wool carpet. Large Icelandic sheepskin rugs have been placed on each side of each bed for that extra touch of luxury and comfort. Ample pillows are provided along with duck feather pillows should you so prefer.

On top of the original red tiles in the hall and wooden floor in the kitchen is a fine traditional hand-woven Kilim and a 100% wool rug to keep your feet cosy, along with a handwoven yellow wool runner atop the slate tiled floor in the lounge. And for that extra touch of comfort, faux fur and soft woollen throws can be found in the lounge and on the beds upstairs.

The lounge has been decorated with chunky wooden side tables, beautiful lamps, and two Tuscany velvet tub chairs, a large vintage brown leather sofa and a large Victorian footstool. Games and playing cards are also provided.

Talfryn has a Sony Bravia 32 inch Smart TV in the lounge, along with a separate stereo system, and a Toshiba 24 inch Smart TV in the double bedroom along with an electric log burner for added warmth and atmosphere, and antique bedside tables and drawers.

In the twin room is an oak and wicker six-drawer chest along with a hairdryer. Individual and hand-crafted bedside tables nestle next to each of the twin beds. And for your comfort the duvets and pillow protectors are anti allergy.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything from copper granite and granite stone non-stick frying pans to baby bucket egg cups. And a microwave, kettle and toaster, fridge with a freezer compartment, electric cooker with induction hob. Electric skirting panel heaters are in the hall and kitchen for extra warmth should you so need it and totally funky lighting for that touch of individuality. A Victorian dining kitchen table seats four at the dining end of the kitchen.

Each adult guest is given a complimentary and cruelty-free toiletry box consisting of Baylis and Harding toiletries, Elsyl sewing kit, Prija shower cap and vanity kit packaged in recycled cardboard and presented in a little wooden chest.

Egyptian cotton luxury bath sheets, hand towels and flannels are colour coordinated to each bedroom.

A welcome and complimentary basket awaits you consisting of delicious Welsh cakes or chocolate cake bars, milk, brown and white sugar, tea, coffee, both instant and decaffeinated coffee grounds for that real taste of coffee percolated in your Alessi Pulcina espresso maker.

Indesit spin washer dryer. Bath and overhead shower. Safety heater in the bathroom.

Walking. Cycling. Photography. Nature and bird-watching are literally on your doorstep. Seriously. Hop over the fence in the garden and the world is your oyster.

Children are welcome but only over 8 years of age as the property, the stairs, and the garden, are not suitable for children under the age of 8.

Due to Talfryn being surrounded by livestock, namely sheep, we have a strict No Dogs policy

The water at Talfryn is derived from its own spring, it's literally like having bottled water on tap.

Talfryn is completely private and off the beaten track with no nearby neighbours. In the grounds of Talfryn can be found outbuildings consisting of a garage, studio and shed, which are currently closed but future plans are to turn the studio into a games room for the guests to enjoy.

Check Out is from 10am.
Talfryn is situated up a forestry track, one mile from the road and on the edge of Tynybedw Forest, can be found our beautiful and entirely secluded Grade II listed cottage.

Croeso and welcome to Talfryn!
