Dog friendly cottage in the stunning Eden Valley
Chapel Cottage is a beautiful 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom cottage, with log burner located in the charming village of Winton, close to Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria's stunning and unspoiled Eden Valley. We can sleep up to 6 people and welcome 2 dogs free of charge.

It has been beautifully finished and renovated to a high specification, whilst retaining its original charm and character. We bought the cottage in 2021 and have furnished it to a high standard with hotel quality luxury bedding to make your stay especially comfortable. The cottage has been tastefully decorated throughout and has a home from home feel.

Downstairs

Entrance porch with monks bench, shoe storage space and coat hooks.

Shower room with WC, sink and shower.

Lounge

Spacious, yet cosy, the lounge has 2 comfy sofas, plus fireside chairs, perfect for relaxing evenings by the log burner after a day walking or exploring the local towns and villages. There is a 55 inch smart TV (including Sky Sports, BT Sport, Disney Plus & Netflix), Xbox One, traditional board games and a wide variety of books.

Dining/Kitchen

Large modern dining kitchen featuring Smart TV, Bosch ovens, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge freezer with cold water dispenser, washing machine (we have a tumble dryer in out building) and large oak dining table for 6 guests. The kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking equipment, including a slow cooker, a hand mixer, rolling pin and cake/muffin tins for those who love to bake.

Boiler/Drying Room. Plenty of room for drying off wet clothes and boots!

Upstairs

Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom features quality oak furniture with a luxurious super king size bed for a great nights sleep, bedside tables, dressing table/ desk workspace, chest of drawers and internal wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, WC and sink, Smart TV, hairdryer.

Bedroom 2

Wooden king size bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobe, Smart TV and hairdryer.

Bedroom 3

Large bedroom with twin beds, bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobe, small sofa, Smart TV, table football, and kids games - perfect for our younger guests!

Family Bathroom

Bath with shower attachment, WC and sink.

Outside

To the front of the property there is ample parking for 3 cars. Opposite the Cottage there is a small field in which there are often a few sheep. There is a patio area with bench in front of the Cottage - perfect for morning coffee in the sun. To the rear of the property we have a fully enclosed "sun trap" patio area with seating for 6 and a BBQ stand for disposable BBQ use. Behind the Cottage is a small farmyard so you may hear the occasional "moo" if the cows are at home or get a glimpse of the lambs in spring time!

Younger Guests

For our younger guests we have an IKEA high chair (with baby insert) and baby change table - available on request. We have children's cutlery, plates, bowls and cups. There is room for a travel cot in both the master bedroom and the twin bedroom.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome at the Cottage (2 dogs maximum - more possibly on request). We do ask that if your dog likes to cuddle up on the sofa, please bring your own throw or blanket. Please note that unfortunately we do not allow dogs upstairs - this is for the comfort of all our guests. We have a fully enclosed patio area where dogs will have their own outdoor "hose-down" area! We also provide a water bowl and a little doggie welcome pack!

Winton is a quiet, traditional farming village, with a lovely village green, a small playground and a friendly local pub serving up excellent food and drink just 150 yards from the doorstep!

We are situated just 1.5 miles from the popular market town of Kirkby Stephen, where there are numerous independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Venture down to the River Eden, which runs through the town, for picturesque family walks along the River. There you will find Franks Bridge - a perfect place to enjoy a picnic!

The railway station in Kirkby Stephen is on the Settle to Carlisle line, famous for its amazing scenery of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

There are lots of beautiful countryside walks and cycle routes directly from the doorstep for all ages and abilities.

There are many local villages to explore along with the towns of Appleby, Penrith, Sedbergh, Kendal and Barnard Castle all close by. Local activities include walking, hiking, cycling, golf, fishing and horse riding.

Chapel Cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing break to get away from it all and explore the local area. It is also ideally located for visiting the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
