The Dick Turpin luxury holiday cottage in Clun, Shropshire is spacious light and airy; a relaxing retreat all year round, with its real log fire, central heating and double glazing. This classic yet contemporary Shropshire holiday cottage is set on a hillside in a 20-acre woodland wilderness reserve within the Shropshire hills, a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Being high above the village of Clun, the cottage enjoys enviable views across the valley and the rolling Shropshire countryside. It is the only holiday cottage on the property, set well back from any public roads and not overlooked, so you can be assured of total privacy, seclusion, and peace.
The sympathetic restoration of this detached stone building under a slate roof retained many original features but also, importantly, introduced all of the modern amenities and comforts that you would expect to find in a five-star gold luxury holiday cottage, such as high speed WiFi internet access.
There is parking right outside the cottage which is to be found at the top of a long private drive. Being built on the hillside, access to the cottage is via a short flight of steps. On arrival you will find a welcome hamper with some essentials and a few luxuries to begin your break in style.
The living room is light, airy and spacious. A great deal of care and attention has been lavished on furnishings, fittings and décor. For example, there is a hand-made sofa from Chelsea firm Miracles, complemented by a matching coffee table, both adorned with charming nocturnal winter scenes of badgers. These beautiful items fit well with an award-winning oak Lamino chair, said to be the most comfortable Swedish chair that money can buy. This lovely room also has a log-burning stove (free logs provided) and French doors looking out onto a very private terrace furnished with table and chairs.
Music lovers will be delighted to find a state-of-the-art Linn music system for radio and CDs, a Brennan music store and a Bose unit. There is also a large high definition flat screen television, a DVD player, video, iPod dock, internet/DAB radio and telephone.
Heaven for two, situated some 20 metres to the south of the main house, THE DICK TURPIN detached, stone and timber built, slate roofed property stands high above Clun.
The cottage enjoys enviable views that visitors to other Shropshire holiday cottages can only dream of, over the valley and the rolling Shropshire hills. The fully restored property nestles in 20 acres of woods and wonderful walks on the hillside high above the historic village of Clun.
