What is really special about Croft Holidays are the superb views over towards the Cairngorm massif and the peaceful, rural location only 0.5 mile from Newtonmore from which you can enjoy wildlife including lapwings, curlew, hares and deer. Located in a crofting area and the next door neighbours have included a pet lamb and there are now horses. Your hosts Anne and Ian enjoy outdoor pursuits and wildlife and can advise guests about these.

The local area is good for walking, climbing, skiing, biking, fishing, golf, gliding, sailing, horse riding, and much else besides. The Newtonmore Wild Cat Trail can be joined 200m from the cottages. There are over 120 decorative wildcats positioned throughout the village. For the more active, the cottages lie at the feet of the Monadhliath mountains and make an ideal base for Munro trips to Creag Meagaidh, the Cairngorms and Drumochter hills. It is also superb for mountain biking, with trips from the door.

Many guests come for the distinct plant-life and wildlife to be found within the Aviemore area of the Cairngorms National Park. The Highland wildlife park is 5 miles away and other wildlife attractions include badger hides, the Cairngorm reindeer herd etc. Your hosts are actively involved in wildlife and participate in the mink survey to maintain water vole numbers. They are also concerned about the environment, and encourage recycling, while solar panels reduce the carbon footprint.

The village also hosts the Highland and the Clan Macpherson museums, as well as a Highland games the first weekend in August. The attractions of Fort William, Loch Ness or Inverness are not far away.
