Cala Seimh is situated on the seafront in a row of whitewashed houses in the village of Port Charlotte in a conservation area on the beautiful Hebridean island of Islay.

The village of Port Charlotte represents a key example of an early nineteenth century planned settlement, and is situated on the shores of Loch Indaal, a large sea loch or bay. The house is just one minute from the pier and beach, where swimming and fishing are enjoyed.

Just a few minutes' walk there is a larger beach and a path leading to the picturesque Port Charlotte lighthouse.

A new footpath suitable for walkers has been made between the villages of Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte.

Cala Seimh has an idyllic setting, overlooking the sea over to the Mull of Oa, the Islay hills and the Paps of Jura. On a clear day the coast of Northern Ireland is clearly visible. Port Charlotte has two hotels, three restaurants and a general store and post office, as well as the nearby Port More Centre with playground, care, sporting facilities and a camping site.

Glorious Atlantic beaches are 4-10 miles away, while smaller coves and sandy bays on the more sheltered Lochindaal are in walking or biking distance.

The island offers Pony Trekking, Sea and Loch Fishing, a renowned golf course, and is a paradise for bird/watchers with a large RSPB Reserve offering guided tours.

There are additional activities and festivals throughout the spring and summer periods. Last but not least, Islay is renowned for its whiskey distilleries and wonderful single malts, and it also produces some excellent gins and its own beer.
